1. Scope and operator
This policy explains how the Food Scan Android application processes information. Food Scan is operated by its developer, who can be contacted at easygamedevs@gmail.com. You can use the core app without creating a conventional user account.
2. Information processed
Food Scan stores profiles and selected allergens, scan history, favourites, shopping lists, saved products and label photos on your device. Text extracted from a label photo is processed locally by the app.
If you choose to share a shopping list, Firebase creates an anonymous identifier and stores the shared list, its items, updates and an invitation code in the cloud so invited participants can synchronise it.
Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics may process app interactions, device and app information, diagnostic data, crash traces and identifiers used to measure usage and improve stability. Google Mobile Ads and its consent platform may process consent choices, approximate location derived from an IP address, device or advertising identifiers, and interaction data according to your settings and applicable law.
If you contact us by email, we receive the address and content that you choose to send.
3. Why information is used
Information is used to provide barcode search and product details, match available allergen data with your profile, save your choices, synchronise lists you choose to share, understand app usage, diagnose crashes, protect cloud features and support the application.
4. Camera and network access
Camera permission is requested for barcode scanning and for label photos that you decide to capture. The app does not use the camera in the background. Network access is used for product requests, shared-list synchronisation and third-party services.
5. Third-party services
Food Scan can send a barcode or search query to Open Food Facts to retrieve product records. Standard connection information such as an IP address may be processed by that service.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Processing or storage may occur in countries other than yours.
6. Retention and deletion
Local information remains on your device until you delete it in the app, clear the app data or uninstall the app. A shared list remains in Firebase until it is deleted; revoking sharing invalidates existing invitations. Analytics, diagnostics and service records are retained by the relevant provider under its retention rules.
7. Your controls
You can deny or remove camera permission in Android settings, delete history and local content in the app, stop sharing or delete a shared list, and clear all application data from Android settings. Where required, the app displays Google’s consent choices for data used by advertising services. Privacy requests can also be sent to the contact address below.
8. Children
Food Scan is a general shopping utility and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the contact or sharing features, contact us so the request can be reviewed.
9. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the application, its services or legal requirements change. The current version and update date will be published on this page.
